Hike The Appalachian Trail

Whether you are wanting to take a leisurely stroll or a serious hike, there are many beautiful places to go hiking around Dahlonega.

Dahlonega celebrates Trailfest in April to recognize its Appalachian Trail (AT) heritage and designation as the southern terminus community. The AT is easily accessed at Springer Mountain and in Suches, Georgia.

Hiking trails weave the way through scenic north Georgia mountains. The Mountain Top Lodge is convenient to over 15 trails suitable for day hikes, ranging from easy to strenuous. Several, lead to scenic waterfalls and panoramic views.

The Most Popular Trails in the Area Include:

Amicalola Falls and Hiking in Dawsonville, GA – Easy to Strenuous

Desoto Falls and Hiking in Dahlonega, GA – Moderate

Benton Mackaye Trail on the AT in Suches, GA – Moderate

This is our second trip and this time we brought friends. Wow. Everything was great and was even better than our first trip.

Our family enjoyed the old fashioned game room in the main lodge (scrabble and other board games, puzzles etc), the friendly service, and cooked breakfasts.

Thank you so much for the great experience and a safe, comfortable, clean B and B.
