Bear on the Square

April Weekend:  21 – 22, 2018

In the 16th Annual Bear on the Square, blue grass music fills the historic public square. A juried artist’s marketplace features traditional mountain art and crafts. Children’s activities and food make it the perfect family outing.


US Army Mountain Ranger Open House

April or May Weekend:  2018 (TBD)

The Army’s finest display the skills and training of the American Ranger. Equipment featured include helicopters, night vision devices, weapons, and parachutes. (family-oriented)


Mountain Art & Wine Festival

May Weekend:  19-20, 2018

Over 70 jury-selected artists working all mediums sell and create their art throughout the historic square.

North Georgia Chamber Music Festival

This event will feature world-class musicians in an intimate setting at North Georgia College & State University.


Mountain Top Rodeo at R-Ranch

A world class event on the Rodeo circuit has non-stop competitive action, hilarious antics and a fun-filled midway!


Fourth of July Celebration

July 4, 2017 Weekend

Family-style events include a 5k/10k race, a parade, traditional foods and the largest fireworks show in the region!


Dahlonega Trail Fest

September 8 – 10, 2017

Celebrate Dahlonega’s designation as an AT Trail Community and its position as the southern AT gateway.

Six Gap Century & The Gap Fifty Races

September 22 – 24 (race day), 2017

Georgia’s premier cycling venue hosts races travelling many of the roads and mountain climbs as the elite Tour de Georgia.


Gold Rush Days

October 21 – 22, 2017

Thousands see fall colors peaking and celebrate Dahlonega’s 1828 discovery of gold. Over 300 art and craft exhibitors make this weekend fun and exciting!


Hemlock Festival

November 4-5, 2017

This music festival increases public awareness and raises funds to help save the eastern and Carolina hemlock trees.


Old Fashioned Christmas

Nov. 24 – Dec. 23, 2017

A month-long celebration set in a Currier & Ives setting complete with Santa’s arrival, caroling and live theater Christmas events.

Mountain Moonshine Festival

This is our second trip and this time we brought friends. Wow. Everything was great and was even better than our first trip.


Our family enjoyed the old fashioned game room in the main lodge (scrabble and other board games, puzzles etc), the friendly service, and cooked breakfasts.
